Well, well, well – it seems we’re going back in time!
I’ve noticed the trend of celebrities reverting to their natural looks – dissolving fillers, taking out implants, and so much more. Oh, how I’m lovin’ it. But guess what? Naturally, with trends spreading, the same is happening in the hair world.
Celebs and prominent influencers are going back to their natural hair colors, taking extensions out, treating their hair with more love and less styling tools. And because they’re influencers, more and more clients are coming to my salon, Hello Gorgeous Naples, and showing us their baby pictures – asking to go back to that specific color.
So, should you follow suit? Should you go back to your natural hair color? Let’s talk about it.
Before we dive in – my credentials! I’m Lili, the owner of Hello Gorgeous Naples – a hair salon known for its best color work. In fact, one of our wonderful stylists – Miranda – is so incredible, she worked NYC and Paris Fashion Week shows. Sounds impressive? Wait until you see her work.
With this in mind, let’s lock in, discuss this new trend, and find out whether this trend is something you should be doing as well.
Sooo, what’s this all about? Well, celebrities and influencers going back to their natural hair color isn’t a thing of myths and legends – they’ve been doing it since time. However, more attention has been brought to this practice lately, turning it into a full-blown trend.
We now have people looking up Sydney Sweeney natural hair color, Billie Eilish natural color, and even Brittany Snow natural hair color (love her!). And what they’re often finding is the colors that radiate a specific kind of beauty. I’m talking about anything from dark chocolate shades to actual natural blondes and gingers.
It has people questioning why they dyed their hair in the first place? And don’t get me wrong – I’m the last person to judge. I dye my hair blonde all the time! Some people just don’t like how they look with their natural color, and there’s nothing wrong with that. However, the part of the society that is questioning their decisions are driving this trend.
To figure out whether or not this trend is good for you, all you need to do is ask yourself a couple of questions.
Are you happy with your current hair color?
Do you think your natural color would suit you better?
What drove you to dye your hair in the first place?
Answers to some of these questions are easy, right? But what about whether or not your natural hair will suit you? I know a lot of my ladies get their color analysis done, and that helps plenty in their decision making.
But let me tell you something – the only person that can actually tell you, with certainty, which hair color would suit you best is a highly qualified hairstylist. And, as you already know, we have plenty of those in Hello Gorgeous Naples salon.
Once you come to your consultation, your stylist will assess your skin tone and undertone, as these are the main indicators of the kind of colors that will suit you best (when it comes to hair and beyond).
But let’s say you decide this is the right move for you – how would you go back to your natural hair color? There are several ways.
The first, and most natural way, is to grow it back out. Yeeees, I know – this process can be lengthy and tedious, so it’s definitely not for those wanting instant results. However, if you’re looking for something that won’t damage your hair additionally, you should try this out, for sure.
The second way, and the one most people gravitate towards, is dyeing it back to your original color. Now, this seems like a great idea – duh – but you need a stylist that’s knowledgeable and skilled enough to color-match you well. Oh yeah, you’d be surprised how many stylists can’t do that properly.
I mean, if your hair has grown out enough and you’re not afraid of change – you can always just cut your hair short. That could mean anything from a bob to a pixie, depending on how much hair you’d have to cut off. Sounds scary, yes, but it’s worth it. Wanna know why? A new look always brings a kind of freshness in your life, wouldn’t you agree?
Let me be perfectly honest with you – the only way to get the virgin hair quality back is to let your hair grow out. When new strands replace the old, that’s when your hair will be fully repaired.
However, that doesn’t mean you’re stuck with dry and rough hair texture until your hair grows out. All you need to do is love your strands a bit more than you usually do. That means regular Olaplex treatments, trims, avoiding heat exposure, and similar. You know – moisturizing and nourishing as much as possible.
This will get your hair looking and feeling shiny and silky, but the only real way to get the quality back is growing your hair back out.
While this trend is taking the world by storm, as always, you should ask yourself what’s the best thing you can do for yourself and your hair? Is it going back to the natural hair color or maintaining the color you currently have?
No matter your choice, Hello Gorgeous Naples salon in Naples, Florida has your back on all things hair – whether you need a coloring, nourishing treatment, or extensions.
