Thinking about changing your hair this year? You’re definitely not alone. A fresh haircut is one of my favorite ways to change your look without touching your color, and 2026 is giving us plenty of inspiration.
What I love most about this year’s trends is that there really isn’t one “right” way to wear your hair. We’re seeing everything from polished, structured bobs to heavily layered cuts with lots of movement and personality. And as always, the best haircut isn’t necessarily the one you see everywhere on social media. It’s the one that works with your hair texture, face shape, and everyday routine.
So, if you’ve been looking up “women’s haircut near me” and searching for some inspiration before sitting in the salon chair, here are some of the haircut trends worth considering:
If you thought we were leaving the bob behind, think again!
The bob haircut in 2026 is still one of the biggest looks, but I’m seeing much more variety in how it’s being worn. Some women are going shorter with a sharp, jaw-length bob, while others are choosing softer versions with movement around the ends.
Personally, I love how customizable this cut is. A blunt bob can make finer hair look fuller, while subtle layers can remove weight from thick hair and create more movement. Even changing where the length falls can completely change the effect.
My advice? Don’t walk into the salon asking for just “a bob.” Bring inspiration pictures and talk to your stylist about the length and shape that will complement your features and work with your natural texture.
The wolf haircut women have been wearing for the past few years isn’t disappearing either. Instead, it’s becoming a little softer and much more wearable.
A wolf cut combines shorter, face-framing layers with longer layers throughout the rest of the hair. The result is that slightly undone, textured look that falls somewhere between a shag and a mullet.
But you don’t have to go extremely edgy. We can customize the amount of layering depending on how much volume and texture you want. If you have naturally wavy or curly hair, those layers can also help bring out your existing texture instead of fighting against it.
This is one I especially love for clients who want a noticeable change but aren’t ready to lose much length.
Another haircut making its way back into the conversation is the mod cut.
Inspired by the short, graphic hairstyles of the 1960s, today’s version feels a little less rigid. Think shorter lengths, defined shapes, face-framing pieces, and often some type of fringe.
What makes the modern version interesting is that it can be adapted to you. It can look sleek and polished or have more texture for a slightly undone finish.
It’s definitely more of a statement than long layers or a classic lob, so I always recommend talking through styling and maintenance with your hairstylist before making the chop.
Layers themselves are nothing new, but the way we’re using them continues to change.
Rather than giving everyone the same heavily layered haircut, the focus is on placing layers where your hair actually needs them. That might mean shorter pieces around your face, long internal layers to remove weight, or more dramatic layering to bring out curls and waves.
This is where a good consultation makes such a difference. Two people can walk into the salon with the same inspiration photo and leave with slightly different versions of that haircut-and that’s a good thing!
Sometimes you don’t even need a dramatic chop to make your existing haircut feel different.
A middle part haircut still gives hair that clean, balanced appearance and works beautifully with bobs, long layers, and face-framing pieces. But we’re also seeing more freedom with part placement, so don’t feel like you have to stick to the middle just because it’s trending.
Changing your part can alter how your layers fall and even how the shape of your haircut frames your face. It’s one of the easiest things to experiment with before committing to a bigger change.
Trends are wonderful for inspiration, but they should never dictate your haircut.
Before choosing your next style, think about your natural texture, how often you actually style your hair, how much maintenance you’re comfortable with, and what you want your haircut to do for you.
